The 6th National Conference on Traffic Technologies, held on 22nd and 23rd February 2024 at the Central Academy for Police Training in Bhopal, was a significant event that brought together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from diverse fields to discuss pressing issues and innovative solutions in road safety and traffic management. Over 170 participants from across the nation attended this crucial conference.


The conference commenced with insightful deliberations led by Shri D N Singh, Assistant Director [Conference Secretary], who introduced the agenda and objectives of the conference.

The inaugural session featured Dr. Subroto Das, a Padma Shri awardee for his work on Highway Trauma Care and Founder of Lifeline Foundation, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Special Guest Dr. Sanjay A. Lathkar, ADG Operations, Jharkhand, also attended the session.

Subsequent sessions included valuable insights from Padma Shree Dr. Subroto Das on Emergency Care and Vision Zero initiatives. Next session, led by Dr. Prerana Arora Singh, Director of the Centre for Road Safety Management and BLS Centre at Nirwan University, Jaipur, focused on the critical issue of Women and Pedestrian Safety in Public Transport in India. Dr. Singh's expertise shed light on key challenges and potential strategies for enhancing safety in this domain.

Dr. Manish Jaiswal, Director of NATRAX, Indore, discussed Passive and Active Safety Infrastructure for Road Safety in India, stimulating discussions on practical interventions. Presentations by Dr. Richa Ahuja from IIT Kharagpur, focusing on Emergency Response for Road Traffic Crashes, and M Vaasu from Vheedu NGO, highlighting the Role of Road Users and Other Stakeholders Towards Zero Accidents, fostered collaborative brainstorming and the exchange of best practices.

The second day began with an introductory session on new criminal laws by Anil Kishore Yadav, IPS Director CAPT. Dr. S. Velmurugan, Chief Scientist at CRRI New Delhi, introduced attendees to the potential of Artificial Intelligence in Road Safety, opening avenues for leveraging technology for accident prevention.

Prof. Siddhrtha Rokade from MANIT, Bhopal, presented cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, delving into Traffic Technologies and Vision Zero Death. Shri Swatantra Kumar from 3M India emphasized the crucial role of Road signs, Markings, and reflective devices in enhancing road safety.

Shri Ashwini Bagga presented research on Using Association Rule Mining Technique on Road Crash Data, offering data-driven insights for effective interventions. The day concluded with sessions on A Road Map to Vision Zero Death by the Transport Department, Bhopal, and the importance of scientific research in identifying accident causes, led by Shri Milind Joshi.

Valedictory Session and Conclusion

The conference concluded with a Valedictory Session graced by Sh Sanjeev Shami, IPS, ADG PTRI. Expressions of gratitude, insightful addresses, and the exchange of mementos underscored the collaborative spirit and shared commitment towards achieving safer roads and reduced traffic fatalities.
