Producer Prerna Arora says female-centric films are a "catalyst for change", urges the audience to embrace its richness.

There was a time when makers didn't have enough confidence in female-led films or women-centric narratives as they thought that these films wouldn't leave the cash registers ringing at the box office. But that was also the time when the film industry was dominated by men. It was a man's world, and women were just living as per the rules set by men. However, tables turned, and over the years, several women such as Meghna Gulzar, Mira Nair, Guneet Monga, Ekta Kapoor and Prerna Arora among others challenged the status quo by getting into the business of filmmaking. They not only fanned the flames of change by bringing female-centric narratives, but also challenged and went beyond the typical norm of the industry. They explored the unseen, the unrecognised and the least talked about female narratives, which not only resonated with the audience, but also changed the dynamics of Indian cinema.

As a proponent for inclusivity, filmmaker Prerna Arora asserts that now, more than ever, female-oriented films are essential to challenge stereotypes and ignite conversations. She urged other filmmakers and audiences to embrace the richness of female narratives. "Female-oriented films are a need of the hour. They are not just a reflection of our times but also a catalyst for change. In today's world, where inclusivity and representation matter more than ever, it's crucial to amplify the voices of women on screen. These films serve as a mirror to society, sparking vital discussions and paving the way for a more equitable and empathetic future," said the filmmaker, who has produced films such as 'Pari', 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', 'Pad Man' and others.

Arora's contribution to the transformative shift in the industry continues with her upcoming film 'Hero Heeroine'. The film 'Hero Heeroine' is a pan-India project starring Divya Khossla in the lead role, while Tusshar Kapoor, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and others play pivotal roles.
